DOC Rioja
“The Vineyards of the Hernaiz brothers” are located in the DOC Rioja, more precisely in the very northwest, in the Rioja Alta region. The special climate of the region is defined by its geography and is perfect for high quality viticulture in the vineyard’s stony terroir. This particular combination of soil and climate produces elegant and complex wines with a very specific character. The vineyards are managed by brothers Eduardo and Victor Hernáiz, hence the name “Vineyards of the Hernaiz brothers”. The vineyard origins go way back to the 19th century which at that time were owned by Eugenia de Montijo, the Empress of France and were already producing excellent wines. The Hernaiz brothers also make wines under the Finca la Emperatriz label to honour the vineyards past owner.
