Pelassa

Piedmont

The Pelassa family has always produced wine from the vineyards they owned and until 2000, limited the sales of wine to the northern area of Italy. Mario and Teresa, parents of current operators, brothers Daniele and Davide, built the current winery in 1960. Davide is the vigneron and  property manager and Daniele, essentially the face of Pelassa, is winemaker and travels their many overseas markets promoting the wines.

The family owns vineyards around the property producing Arneis, Barbera and Nebbiolo and a vineyard in Verduno, Barolo. The  flagships are the Barolo Riserva and Barolo with several other reds at various price points, from the “Sot” Nebbiolo, to various blends of Barbera and Nebbiolo to “Mario’s” Blend, a Barbera, Merlot and  Cabernet Sauvignon blend.

The family produce about 80,000 bottles from the 14 hectares of vines plus some bought in fruit. The wines are modern style Barolo’s and Piedmonte blends from this producer on the rise.
