Trenel

In1928, a restaurant owner in Cluny called Henri Claudius Trénel set up his own wine business. Shortly afterwards, he bought the spirits maker, Lacrouze. From 1945 to 1988, thanks to André Trénel, the company became a local reference.

His close friends include Jules Chauvet, mentor to many local winegrowers. When he died, Maison Chauvet was taken over by André Trénel. In 2015, the company was bought by a passionate entrepreneur whose ambition was to make Trenel a reference for quality in the region.

Since its creation, Maison Trenel has built its business exclusively around these two regions and
developed its expertise around the grape varieties that are unique to them. This attachment to local
Terroirs is something we’ve always celebrated, and treated with the utmost respect. This is reflected
too in the work we put into the winemaking process, which is done in the traditional way, with as little interference as possible. The know-how and extensive experience of our winemakers is the key to this. Trenel already owns a number of plots, including three and a half acres that are being converted to organic farming. The vines are worked by hand, using horses on some plots. In the longer term, Trenel’s ambition is to pursue its development in the finest Terroirs.
